Shea partnered with Rainforest Café to create a highly-themed environment reflecting the elements of the Rainforest.  The goal was to transport the guest from their current environment into a tropical adventure of food, fun, sights and sounds and to design an adjoining retail component that would actively promote and sell Rainforest Café merchandise.

To transport the guest, the Rainforest Café and its retail store was created to engage all five of the senses with an environmentally conscious approach to engineering construction, aesthetic design and building materials.  The café simulated the rainforest environment by featuring live tropical birds, thunder and lightening, tropical rain showers and mists floating over cascading waterfalls.  Shea provided the schematic design, design development and construction administration services for the original Mall of America location.
